August 2, 2019

Hello Families

We hope you are enjoying your summer and are gearing up for an exciting year of learning.  If you haven’t noticed, our new playground is underway and is almost finished. Through grants and fundraisers, we have been able to install an outdoor classroom, new play structures on the east side and new stone garden beds.

As some of you may already know, the school district has implemented the free full day kindergarten and we will have 4 kindergarten classrooms this year.  This is wonderful as our students will have smaller class sizes and access to all the amenities that grade 1 – 5 enjoy.

The first day of school for grades 1-5 is August 13th and will be a normal schedule that day.  Kindergarten will be doing readiness assessments on August 12thand 13th and will begin classes on August 15th.   If you are a kindergarten parent and have not signed up for an assessment spot, please call the office to get one scheduled.

I am pleased to introduce the following new staff members;  Christina Burton has been added to the kindergarten team. Jessica Epshteyn is our new Affected Needs Teacher and Kristen Morgan is returning as our half time Special Education teacher.  Deana Reid, formerly our 4th grade teacher, has moved to the Special Education team and will be working with intermediate students.

Community Schools:

Our Community School offers childcare before and after school as well as exciting enrichment opportunities before and after school.  Feel free to check their website for more information.

Supply Lists:

Supply lists are posted on our website.  Also, the major retailers in town should have a copy of the list. The District is once again asking for a $10 materials fee to cover materials not asked for on the supply list.  You can pay in the office, during back to school night, or through Rev Trak. In the past, this money has been used for classroom magazines, art supplies, specific grade level projects, etcetera.

School Lunches:

The price of a school lunch for elementary school students is $3.25 (this is an increase from last year), and includes milk.  Payment can be made by check or through myschoolbucks.com.  One lunch charge is allowed on an emergency basis only.  Families who wish to apply for free/reduced lunch may do so at any time during the year.  A new application MUST be filled out each school year. Applications forms will be available in the school office. You can also fill it out online at  myschoolapps.com.

Eagle Crest serves breakfast every morning except on Late Start Days.  Breakfast will start at 8:10am each morning.  There will be adult supervision and the normal rules for behavior in the cafeteria will be enforced.  The cost of a student breakfast is $1.50Students who receive free or reduced lunch will be able to eat breakfast at no charge.

Supply Lists:
Supply lists are posted on our web site.  Also, all the major retailers in town should have a copy of the list.  We have some copies available in the office. If you ordered pre-paid supplies, they will be in your child’s classroom on Back to School Night.

Immunizations:
All students’ immunizations records must be submitted before the first day of school, August 15th to be able to attend school.  Please see the Health Clerk on Back to School Night if your child’s immunizations will not be complete.

Student Drop Off/Pick Up:

As always, we ask that ALL students be dropped off no earlier than 8:20 a.m.  There will be no supervision before this time.  Staff uses this time for meetings and professional development opportunities.  We also ask that individuals please not park in the student drop off circle. Cars left unattended block and hinder others from moving through the circle.  If you do use the parking lot to drop students off, please exit your car and escort students across the driveway.

Absences:

If your child is absent from school, please call the school ASAP to report your child’s absence.  The Infinite Campus System will call you for any unexcused absences around 10:00am. Office number is 303-485-6073 or email [email protected]

Enjoy the remaining portion of your summer and the opportunity to spend precious time with your children.  We look forward to seeing you at Back to School Night on August 12, 2019.

Ryan Ball, Principal
