Eagle Crest is excited to host the author/illustrator duo Karla Oceanak and Kendra Spanjer this Friday, April 6th! The team created the “Aldo Zelnick” series of illustrated novels starring 10-year-old Aldo Zelnick. Similar to the Wimpy Kid books but with a mysterious plot, challenging vocabulary words, and laugh-out-loud humor, they’re books both boys and girls are raving about. And they’ve won a Top 10 Educational Products Award and the Colorado Book Award!
Karla and Kendra will share stories and pictures with 2nd -5th grade classes. We have been talking about the books this week in the library to get ready for the visit. The students are very excited to meet Karla and Kendra
If you are interested in learning more about the author, illustrator and their books, you can check online at karlaoceanak.com/books.
If you would like to purchase books, please fill out the order form on the back of this letter. Please return order forms and payment to the library by noon on Thursday, April 12th.
We couldn’t have these great opportunities for our students without the support of our PTO. Events like these leave a lasting impression on children. I’m so happy our students are able to meet with this author/illustrator team to learn how characters and stories are created and how ideas become the books in our library.

Happy Reading,
